This year´s World Championships markedly resembled last year´s one – everything was like an off-the-road criterium rather than cyclocross.
The race took place in a fantastic atmosphere. When the gun went off and we hit the field, we were exposed to unbelievable shouting of the crowd. To my joy there were large numbers of Czechs among the spectators.
What makes me less happy is the fact that I failed to stay in the front group, partly due to a mistake in one of the turns before the road. Though I had good legs, I was unable to bridge the small gap on the front group.
Our second group kept a constant distance from the lead group for more than a half of the race, but we were unable to catch up with them. Therefore in the end I focused on a sprint within our group.
I definitely desired to make a better result. However, in such a fast race every hesitation is severely punished. I resent that another World Championship is over. But that makes me more eager to get ready for the next one, on home ground in Tábor.
I´m very glad that Štyby defended his silver and I´m very grateful to all fans for the great support. Hopefully, we will be happier in Tábor. I have a whole year to get ready for it and I´ll do my best to make a good result. I promise!!!
Best regards
